Difference Between Single-Stage Vs. Two-Stage Rifle Triggers

A trigger is one of the most important rifle parts. There are two types of triggers – single-stage triggers and two-stage triggers. Though there is no functional difference between the two, when rifle operation is considered, technically they are a bit different. The main purpose of the trigger is to emancipate the sear that makes the rifle fire.

Upgrading the trigger is a bold step towards better accuracy and it can be replaced easily. Single-stage triggers are used in AR applications such as mil-spec triggers as they are durable and last probably the life of your rifle. Two-stage triggers such as Rossi 92 flat trigger reduce pull weight to 3-4 range as well as its flatter trigger face and angle offer comfortable trigger pull.

What is a single-stage trigger?

In a single-stage trigger, you put your finger on the trigger, apply pressure and push the trigger back until the bullet is shot. The single-stage trigger is quite cheap to purchase and simple on work, you just press, and the work is done.

When we get into the technical data, the single-stage trigger has one consistent weight of pull from the point you press the trigger till the rifle is shot.
