Firearm Trigger Types & Actions:
Single-Action (SA) Trigger
A single-action trigger is one of the simplest types of trigger actions. Long firearms such as rifles and gunshots have this type of trigger. As the name implies, a single-action trigger has one chief function. It releases the hammer when the trigger is pulled. This allows the firearm to discharge the ammunition.
Semi-automatic rifles and handguns are available with single-action triggers. In the case of semi-automatic firearms, the firearm cocks the hammer before shooting.
For subsequent shots, the same action is repeated again.
The spent cartridge is then pushed out with force, and fresh ones get loaded. A single-action revolver has a light, smooth and flat trigger as it only needs to drop the hammer.
This allows for accurate, on-point shooting.
